Applications open for game warden training

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is accepting applications for the 69th Texas Game Warden and State Park Police cadet classes through Dec. 31.

Game wardens and park police are fully commissioned peace officers tasked with enforcing all Texas criminal laws, live in the counties they patrol and also teach hunter and boater education, hold outreach events and work with local law enforcement.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old with a bachelor’s degree by June 30, 2026, pass a background check and physical readiness test that includes handgun stability, row and swim test. The 35-week training period begins Oct. 1, 2026.
