Cardinals draft Caden Ferraro, former Oiler baseball player

Date:

Former Pearland Oiler Caden Ferraro (class of 2023) squares up at the plate in the 2023 6A baseball state championship game.  Ferraro was drafted this week by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the MLB draft with the 86th overall pick.  He spent two seasons playing at Blinn Junior College before transferring to Texas Tech this past year.  Now that he has been drafted, he will enter the minor league system and look to work his way up to the major league.  Most players spend at least a year or two in that process.  Caden’s father Andrew Ferraro, who has been the announcer at Oiler baseball games for many years now, reacted with excitement to the draft news saying “My first job was at HEB, my wife Dana’s was at Pizza Hut.  My oldest son just got his first job at the St. Louis Cardinals!”  Caden’s younger brother Brady is entering his freshman year at Pearland High School and is also a stand-out baseball player who hopes to contribute to the team just as well as Caden.
