Alvin Senior Center holds “A Grinchy Christmas Event” at 11 a.m. at 309 W. Sealy St., Alvin, including food, vendors, ornament exchange, photos, and holiday shopping.

Friendswood ISD will be closed for the holidays. Students will return to school on January 7th.
GARAGE SALE
The annual HUGE Indoor/Outdoor Garage Sale by Heritage Gardeners will take place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, July 18-20, from 9 am to 4 pm each day at 112 W. Spreading Oaks. Treasures of all kinds will be offered. Great prices, every room will be packed. All are invited to shop.

CHESS NIGHT
Come enjoy a friendly game of chess at the Friendswood Library on Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:30. The library provides some chess sets, and patrons are welcome to bring their own. This event is for all ages. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. No fees and no registration required.
CITY CLOSURES
City Facilities, including the Library and the Activity Center, will be closed December 24th to 26th.
Pearland Recreation Center and the Knapp Center closed
Pearland Recreation Center and the Knapp Center will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 for the holidays, reopening on Dec. 26. Call 281-412-8900 for information.
Discovery Green open on Christmas Eve
The ice rink at Discovery Green in Houston is open on Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets must be purchased online at discoverygreen.com and are $18 for regular admission.
FRIENDS BOOK CLUB
In-Person Adult book club open to the public and sponsored by the Friends of the Friendswood Public Library. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday each month at 6pm at the Friendswood Library. This week’s book will be The Murder of Mr. Wickham by Claudia Gray.
City Buildings Closed
City recreation and other nonessential facilities, county libraries, and trash collection will be closed during the holiday. Restaurants open include Denny’s, TGI Friday, and select Panda Express, Starbucks, and Waffle House locations.
