Leadership Pearland registration has begun, according to Pearland Chamber of Commerce who hosts the program.
Leadership Pearland is a program which identifies and develops talented and committed citizens who aspire to provide leadership in Pearland’s business and community activities.
The program develops leaders by providing quality, relevant, leadership skills training to match the dynamic needs of the community. The Program teaches participants about Pearland’s governmental, educational, economic, and cultural organizations and encourages future leaders to explore options for personal involvement and relationship building.
The Chamber reports Leadership Pearland creates opportunities for participants to form effective connections with current, past, and future leaders in the community.
Leadership Pearland requires a serious time commitment from participants. It is a series of 11 sessions covering such areas as personal skills, government, economic development, social needs, and other key segments of our community. Additionally, there are mandatory events including the Community Leader’s Reception, a Two-Day Retreat, and an overnight stay in Austin.
The program includes a leadership training segment within each session, led by local professionals, and ends with a celebratory graduation. Leadership Pearland will facilitate appointments of graduates into leadership roles within the Pearland Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations upon program completion.
The cost of the program is $1,200 and is payable by the individual, the employer or a sponsoring organization. Tuition covers most meals, overnight accommodations,
supplemental transportation and course materials. Applicants must be 21 or over and live or work in Pearland. Applicants must have employer’s approval to be in the program also.
The Leadership Pearland program consists of mandatory attendance to the initial reception, the two-day retreat, overnight trip to our state capital and six day-long sessions, once each month, beginning in September and ending in June. An optional two-night, three day trip to the nation’s capital is available for an additional fee. Participants are expected to attend all sessions and are welcome to attend monthly Chamber and Community Events. Participants will be removed from the program if more than 12 cumulative program hours are missed.
Prime candidates for Leadership Pearland are those individuals who are emerging as leaders within their chosen careers and/or various community organizations and agencies, or current leaders wishing to improve their knowledge and leadership skills. They will represent every sector of the community and will be individuals with enthusiasm and dedication.
Each Leadership class is required to complete a group service project that benefits the
community. The Leadership Pearland Class will receive a one-year complimentary membership to the Pearland Chamber of Commerce.
Leadership Pearland, Texas is a national leadership program sponsored by the Pearland Chamber of Commerce. It is designed to identify and bring together men and women of the area who seek the opportunity to expand their involvement in community affairs and are willing to assume leadership positions.
