TMCA conference honors Ron Cox

In a unanimous decision by the Board of Directors, former Friendswood City Manager, Ron Cox, was presented with the Distinguished Member designation at the 2023 Texas City Management Association (TCMA) annual conference held in June.

Mr. Cox, a veteran in local government management, received the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the profession and his dedication to promoting the council-manager plan. The honor is reserved for individuals whose years of distinctive service and significant contributions have notably benefited both the association and the form of local government they represent.

From 1990 to 2006, Cox served as the City Manager of Friendswood, a period of leadership marked by substantial growth and economic development in the city. Under his guidance, Friendswood saw the implementation of numerous initiatives and strategic plans that propelled it to become one of the most livable cities in Texas.

This Distinguished Member designation by TCMA is a testament to Cox’s impactful career in local government management. His steadfast commitment to the council-manager plan and his significant contributions to the profession exemplify the attributes that the TCMA values in its members.

His exemplary leadership, integrity, and dedication to public service continue to inspire current and future city managers. The city of Friendswood, and indeed the entire state of Texas, have greatly benefited from his influential stewardship and commitment to excellence.
