Fall Adopt-A-Beach cleanup announced

Date:

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham announced the fall Adopt-A-Beach coastwide cleanup in 24 locations, including Surfside Beach, Quintana Beach, Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island.

The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up before Sept. 23 at TexasAdoptABeach.org. Check-in for volunteers begins at 8:30 a.m. on cleanup day, and they need close-toed shoes, drinking water and a hat. Adopt-A-Beach provides all necessary cleanup supplies.

The Adopt-A-Beach program began in 1986. Two coastwide cleanups per year are held, one usually on the fourth Saturday of September and the other typically on on the fourth Saturday in April.
