With plans to move out of the district, west Pearland resident Vivian Scheibel has resigned from her seat on the Alvin ISD Board of Trustees effective Aug. 8.

“I did expect to serve this whole term, but we got an opportunity to relocate,” said Scheibel, who has served on the board for nine years. “It was unexpected, but it was something our family just couldn’t pass up.”

A resident of Shadow Creek Ranch, Scheibel was instrumental in the Alvin ISD bond election that led to construction of Shadow Creek High, fellow trustees said. She is also a longtime community volunteer in west Pearland.

Her time on the board has been fulfilling and an amazing learning experience, she said.
“It’s been a blessing just to have a little bit of understanding of the tremendous complexities of serving our 29,000 kids,” she said.
