New art installation spreads the Love

If you happened to be strolling through downtown recently, you may have been one of a few residents to get a sneak peak of the new art installation commissioned by the Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association (FDFA).

In the past, FDFA has primarily focused on funding murals to beautify downtown Friendswood. The new Love Friendswood installation, however, takes public art into a new dimension.

Designed by local artist and FDFA Board Member Sara Peters, the Love Friendswood installation is located adjacent to the Friendswood Public Library on the new Tannos development, the Albritton. Louis Tannos has generously donated the space for the installation as well as the utilities to keep it lit up at night.

Those who are eager to see the finished product, unfortunately, must wait a few weeks for the official unveiling. In the meantime, the installation has been wrapped up to protect it from construction and landscaping work.

The project was spearheaded by FDFA’s “Make It Happen” Committee, which includes Board Members Brett Banfield, Susan Asimakis, Sara Peters, Marcus Rives, Lorrie Foreman, and Robin Hall.

Meg Crowley, President of FDFA, said, “We designed this piece for all! For all of the photos and memories, from kindergarten pics to graduation announcements. We hope it becomes a gathering place for years to come and a not-so-little reminder to add a little more love to your days.”
