Theft

Nov. 14 (9:11 a.m.) A Friendswood engineering company provided contract work for a client. After the work was complete, the client paid with a bad check. After many unsuccessful attempts to recoup the money owed, the Friendswood company wishes to file a criminal charge for theft.

Criminal Mischief

Nov. 17 (10:40 p.m.) Amanda Grace Berry, 35, of Friendswood, will have a warrant for her arrest charging her with Criminal Mischief after she destroyed an inmate pay phone during her recent stay at the Friendswood City Jail.

Fraud

Nov. 13 (9:28 a.m.) A Friendswood man reported that an unknown suspect unsuccessfully attempted to open a personal savings account using his personal identifying information.
Nov. 13 (10:09 a.m.) A Friendswood man received four letters from Goldman Sachs Bank USA about four different savings accounts that were opened using his personal identifying information.

Nov. 13 (2:09 p.m.) A Friendswood resident received a text message from a person she believed to be the director of operations for the company she works for. The text messages asked for her to purchase $1,500 worth of gift cards as part of an urgent task. She purchased the gift cards and sent photos of the barcodes to the person who sent the text. After she sent the photos, she felt uneasy and believed she was scammed. She was right.
Nov. 14 (12:11 p.m.) A Friendswood man’s personal identifying information was used to open a loan with Spot Loan. The victim discovered the identity theft when he began receiving text messages demanding payment for the loan.

Nov. 15 (8:16 a.m.) A Friendswood woman claims that an unknown person has taken over her cell phone number, email, and social media accounts. The unknown person has threatened to release inappropriate emails unless the victim pays for their silence in Bitcoin.

Nov. 15 (8:43 a.m.) A Friendswood man discovered several unauthorized transactions on his bank account. The first transaction was made at the Chase Bank ATM located at 611 S. Friendswood Drive. Then, a second transaction was made in person in the lobby of the same bank.

Nov. 15 (1:05 p.m.) A Friendswood man’s debit card number was used to make a cash withdrawal at the Walmart located on El Dorado.

Nov. 17 (3:35 p.m.) A 74-year-old Friendswood woman was scammed out of $20,000. She discovered a notice on her computer that she had a computer virus. She called the phone number and spoke to a representative who convinced her that someone had hacked her computer and was purchasing child pornography. The scammer told the victim to withdraw the money and directed her to deposit the money into a BitCoin account at a kiosk at a local convenience store. She did as directed and believed she would get her money back. When she told her son the story, she realize she was scammed.

Nov. 18 (11:14 a.m.) A 38-year-old Friendswood man met a person he believed to be an attractive female on TikTok and began conversing with her. They exchanged phone numbers to text, then the victim sent the scammer nude photos of himself. The scammer demanded money in exchange for not sharing the nude photos with the victim’s family and friends. He began by sending money using Apple gift cards, then he sent more money using BitCoin, and then sent even more money. The scammer is still requesting money.

Arrests

A male suspect, 40, of Dickinson, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1.
A male suspect, 37, of Houston, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A female suspect, 28, of League City, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
