‘Tis the season of giving, and in a remarkable display of support for educational innovation, the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) has awarded three Legacy Grants, amounting to over $40,000, to local teachers for their exceptional educational projects. The contributions were announced on Friday during the Foundation’s Legacy Grant SurPrize Patrol event.
The recipients of the grants are Sarah Pike, Alexis Young, Amanda Davies, and Jon Hall, each recognized for their unique and impactful classroom initiatives.
Sarah Pike received $14,023.80 for the “Stallion Science Lab: Where Curiosity Meets Discovery” project, designed to foster a hands-on, explorative approach to science education.
Alexis Young was awarded $15,768.20 for the “Sensory Room Refresh” initiative to enhance learning environments for students with sensory needs.
Lastly, Amanda Davies and Jon Hall received $11,154.65 for “CSI Friendswood: Investigating Authentic Learning in Forensic Science and Crime Detection,” a project that integrates advanced forensic technology into the classroom, providing high school students with real-world learning experiences.
These Legacy Grants are a testament to the FEF’s commitment to fostering innovative educational practices within Friendswood ISD. Funded by the Foundation’s endowment, which relies on contributions from the Century Club members and general donations, these grants underscore the community’s dedication to enhancing educational opportunities.
The FEF invites the community to celebrate these outstanding teachers and their commitment to excellence in education.
