Connor Hilton, the 17-year-old charged with shooting his two friends, resulting in one death, has been released on a $1 million bond, a figure specifically requested by Galveston County District Attorney Jack Roady and set by Judge Kerry Neves.
This amount is notably twice what Hilton’s defense had proposed. The bond was mandated in line with Texas state law, which requires setting a bond amount in cases where the defendant has not been charged with multiple felonies or capital murder.
Under the conditions of his bond, Hilton is confined to his father’s home in Deer Park, with permission to leave only for court dates and appointments with his doctors or lawyers.
He must wear a GPS monitoring device, surrender his passport, and is prohibited from using alcohol, drugs, social media, and firearms.
Hilton is also ordered to avoid any contact with the victims’ families, maintain a 200-yard distance from them, and stay at least 1,000 feet away from locations typically frequented by children.
His case continues, with his next court appearance scheduled for February 2.
