Pearland ISD’s Christmas break will be from Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, according to the 2024-25 academic calendar approved by the school board on Jan. 23.
“Last year there was some concern about the long holiday break, so there was a community input request made by the board,” Superintendent Larry Berger said.
An advisory calendar committee drafted several options to consider during the input phase.
“I saw five different posted calendar proposals on the wall,” said Trustee Sean Murphy, describing the committee’s research on possible calendars. “There’s a lot of work that goes into that, that we don’t see.”
Per the approved calendar, the first day of school for Pearland ISD will be Monday, Aug. 12, with a fall break on Oct. 17-18 and a Thanksgiving Break on Nov. 25-29.
Many staff in-service days were moved to Fridays based on community input.
Spring Break is March 17-21; the committee also collaborated with neighboring districts to roughly align breaks.
Students will finish the school year on Thursday, May 22, as an early release day, and seniors will graduate on Friday, May 23.
