The competition took place in Orlando, Florida, from June 26-30, bringing together talented students from across the nation.
Carrie’s now award-winning book, “You’re Not Alone Little Zebra,” is based on her personal experiences growing up with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS).
Diagnosed at the age of 14, Carrie faced the challenges of living with a chronic illness and was disheartened by the lack of children’s literature that addressed such experiences. Motivated by this gap, she set out on a mission to create a story that would resonate with children facing similar health issues.
