Theft

Sept. 9 (10:40 a.m.) A Friendswood woman paid a contractor cash and gave him a credit card to purchase materials to rebuild a fence. He purchased materials and set posts and after eight weeks has not done any other work. Attempts to contact and get a refund for the labor have been unsuccessful. The victim wants to file charges for theft of materials and for the labor that has not been done.
Sept. 10 (2:50 p.m.) A package theft was reported in the 700 block of Red Oak Lane. An Amazon package was delivered at the victim’s front door on September 8th; however, when the victim arrived home, the package was gone.
Sept. 12 (1:39 p.m.) A man and woman attempted to steal items from Walgreens at 102 N. Friendswood Drive. However, their botched attempt only resulted in damage to a bottle of air freshener after the male attempted to conceal stolen items in his waistband that fell out on the floor. The suspects were described as a black male, 6 feet tall, and bald. The female as white with a blonde ponytail. They left the scene in a champagne-colored Volkswagen Jetta or Passat.

Fraud

Sept. 12 (8:14 a.m.) A Friendswood woman’s identity was stolen and used to open an electricity account in Arizona.
Sept. 12 (12:56 p.m.) An 81-year-old Friendswood woman fell victim to a phishing scam after receiving a call from a person who was warning her that someone was using her name to open accounts and make purchases. The scammer also advised that one of the shipments contained cocaine and as involved in money laundering. She withdrew funds from her savings account and sent the money via UPS to an address in New Jersey. When another large withdrawal was made, the victim’s husband was made aware and stopped the scam with a call to the police department.

Arrests

A male suspect, 20, of Houston, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Driver’s License, No Insurance, and Operate an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
A female suspect, 42, of Friendswood, was charged with Violation of an Emergency Protective Order.
A male suspect, 36, of Houston, was charged with Operating a Salvage Titled Vehicle on a Public Roadway.
A male suspect, 52, of Alvin, was charged with Driving While License Invalid and Expired Registration.
A female suspect, 34, of Pearland, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A female suspect, 33, of League City, was charged with Driving While License Invalid.
A male suspect, 45, of Deer Park, was charged with No Insurance.
A male suspect, 19, of unknown origin, was charged with two counts of Tampering with a Government Record and Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information.
A male suspect, 39, of unknown, was arrested on outstanding warrants.
A male suspect, 19, of Alvin, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2.
A female suspect, 18, of Houston, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
