Oilers blowout Mavericks 42-18

Pearland senior wide receiver Nick Fernandez (4) dives to catch a 36-yard pass from quarterback Jake Westmoreland vs Manvel on Friday night. The catch came at a crucial time in the game and helped the Oilers take control on their way to a 42-18 blowout win over the Mavericks. Fernandez had a breakout game with three receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. The win gives the Oilers a 4-1 overall record and a perfect 3-0 in district play at the halfway point of the season. Up next is Pear Bowl XI as the Oilers will take on the Dawson Eagles on Friday Oct 4th, 7pm at Pearland ISD Stadium.

Pearland junior linebacker Sam Armstrong (33) returns an interception 24 yards for a touchdown just before halftime vs Manvel on Friday night. Armstrong also added two tackles, a sack and five quarterback hurries on a night that saw the Oilers pick up the win 42-18 over Manvel and stay on top of the district 22-6A standings. Pearland will take on the Dawson Eagles on Friday Oct 4th at home before heading back out on the road to face the Dobie Longhorns on Friday Oct 11th.
