Local residents have until Jan. 31 to be a part of Brazoria County history by donating photos, recordings, or artifacts to be placed in a time capsule set to be opened in 50 years.

“By participating in this endeavor, we offer a glimpse of our time for those who will open the capsule in 2075,” Brazoria County Judge Matt Sebesta said in a release.

The time capsule will be placed in the Brazoria County Courthouse in Angleton during a spring open house celebrating the completion of a major renovation and expansion.
The opening of the time capsule in 2075 is timed with the 250th anniversary of the founding of Brazoria County.

Families, businesses, churches, and other organizations may donate an item to the capsule. These can include photos, videos, audio, artifacts, and digital materials — can be brought to the Brazoria County Historical Museum at 100 E. Cedar St. in Angleton. Photos and other recordings should be under three minutes, and audio recordings should be under 15 minutes. Artifacts should be no more than five cubic inches or the size of a cellphone.

For more information, contact the museum at 979-864-1208.
