On the stage: Pearl plans short film fest, first play of 2025

The Pearl Theater’s second annual ShortFlix Film Fest is set for Jan. 20-25, with filmmakers submitting short works of 12 minutes or less in a variety of genres.

The film fest includes an awards ceremony and a people’s choice award to be selected by attendees, along with a film industry expert panel, director question-and-answer, and networking reception.

The nonprofit theater at 14803 Park Almeda Drive is currently in its 2024-25 “Season of Discovery,” with the first play of 2025, the comedy musical “Firebringer,” scheduled for Jan. 10-19.

The box office opens for ticket sales an hour before each show. Tickets are $18 to $20.

Also coming in 2025 are “The Colored Museum,” set for Feb. 21-March 9, and “Willy Wonka Jr.” scheduled for April 4-13.
