Pearland Junior High South (PJHS) students recently partnered with the City of Pearland Urban Forestry Program in a tree distribution initiative. The students’ dedication and hard work were instrumental in distributing 2,000 loblolly pine trees to the community.
“Our students’ efforts reflect the strong emphasis on environmental stewardship and civic responsibility,” PJHS Principal Jason Frerking said. “Their contributions will have a lasting impact on our community and the environment.”
Over the next 50 years, these 2,000 trees will:
• Sequester approximately 1,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
• Improve air quality.
• Enhance water and soil health.
• Support wildlife habitats.
• Mitigate the urban heat island effect.
City of Pearland Urban Forrester, Jerry Bradshaw, shared “the enthusiasm and commitment shown by these students remind us that the future of our community and our planet is in good hands. They are true environmental champions, and their actions will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.”
