Burglary
Mar. 15 (11:35 a.m.) An unlocked vehicle burglary was reported in the 1900 block of Blue Quail Drive. The victim arrived home, left his wallet and firearm inside the unlocked vehicle, and went inside the home for the night. When he returned to the vehicle the next morning, the wallet and firearm were gone.
Mar. 17 (4:02 am.) A male was captured on video checking car door handles and entering a detached garage in the 900 block of High Ridge Circle. He was also captured on video in the 700 block of High Ridge. The suspect is a young, mid-20s, black male, who has dreadlocks, and is dressed in a black hoodie, back sweatpants, and tan shoes.
Mar. 17 (7:56 a.m.) A burglary was reported at a residence in the 700 block of Stonecreek Circle. The incident occurred on March 15, 2025, at 5:55 a.m. A male entered the side door of the garage and entered a vehicle parked inside the garage. The incident was captured on video and the male appears to be the same male seen on video in the 1900 block of Blue Quail, and on High Ridge.
Criminal Mischief
Mar. 10 (4:08 p.m.) Italian dressing was poured over a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Skyview Terrace.
Mar. 11 (8:11 a.m.) A resident in the 900 block of White Pine Drive reported an incident that occurred the night of February 23, 2025. Surveillance cameras captured four males who arrived in a light-colored sedan. The occupants smashed fresh and canned tomatoes on the driveway and smothered tomatoes and sliced cheese on a vehicle. Then, on March 10, 2025, the same males returned at 12:52 a.m., in a darker vehicle, and poured syrup, cheese and spaghetti-O’s on a vehicle in the driveway and smashed a gallon of milkfat on the front porch.
Fraud
Mar. 10 (11:58 a.m.) A Friendswood man received a 1099 form from a company that he has never done work for. The identity theft has been reported to the IRS.
Mar. 10 (8:30 p.m.) Two Friendswood residents were victims of an online scam. One of their friends had their Facebook profile hacked, and the profile listed several items for sale. The victims wanted to purchase one of the sale items and paid a deposit. When the transaction was made to a person’s account they did not recognize, they contacted the friend by phone and realized they were scammed.
Mar. 14 (8:14 a.m.) A local business owner has fallen victim to a sophisticated wire fraud scheme, resulting in a loss of more than $200,000. The incident occurred when the business owner received an email that appeared to be from a legitimate company to whom payment was owed. The fraudulent email, which included official-looking company logos and branding, contained instructions for wiring the funds to a specified bank account. Unaware of the deception, the business owner proceeded with the transaction. It was only after a representative from the legitimate company contacted the business owner that the fraud was discovered. Upon closer examination, it was found that the email address used by the impostor contained a minor alteration, making it appear nearly identical to the real company’s email.
Mar. 15 (4:19 p.m.) An 81-year-old Friendswood woman has fallen victim to a Facebook Messenger scam, losing money to fraudsters posing as a trusted source. The victim believed she had received a message from her sister regarding a supposed monetary prize, with her sister allegedly vouching for the legitimacy of the “agent” handling the winnings. Convinced of the offer’s authenticity, the victim provided gift cards as payment in anticipation of receiving the winnings. However, the scammer continued to demand additional payments, citing IRS charges, certificates, and other fabricated fees. It was only after speaking directly with her sister on the phone that the woman realized she had been deceived.
Theft
Mar. 15 (11:10 a.m.) A trucking company owner, who is currently suing a complainant, is facing allegations of unauthorized dirt removal from a construction site in the 3800 block of FM 528. The individual is accused of hauling eight truckloads of dirt to an unauthorized location.
Traffic
Mar. 10 (11:10 a.m.) A hit and run crash was reported in the 100 block of W. Parkwood Avenue. The suspect vehicle was a red, older model, Ford Ranger truck.
Mar. 11 (8:05 p.m.) A hit and run crash occurred in the 100 block of N. Friendswood Drive. The victim’s vehicle was rear-ended. The suspect vehicle was described as a tan, older model, boxy vehicle.
Mar. 11 (10:46 p.m.) A Friendswood officer attempted to make a traffic stop in the 2200 block of W. Parkwood Avenue on a dark gray or black Jeep Cherokee for speeding. The driver failed to stop and crossed into the Brazoria County limits before the pursuit was ended. The vehicle was determined to be an Enterprise Rental and officers are now following up leads to file charges on the operator for evading arrest or detention in a vehicle.
