‘Willy Wonka Jr.’ opens Friday at Pearl

The Pearl Theater will open the “Willy Wonka Jr” musical this Friday at the community playhouse, 14803 Park Almeda Drive, Houston.

Based on the book by Roald Dahl about enigmatic candy maker Willy Wonka, the junior version of the musical is described as an abridged, youth-friendly version designed for young performers on stage. The show is part of the Pearl Theatre’s youth series.

“Willy Wonka Jr.” opens at 7:30 pm this Friday, April 4, and continues with two performances on Saturday at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm. A 2:30 pm matinee is planned for Sunday, April 6.

After opening weekend, performances are: 7:30 pm on April 11; 2, 30 p.m. and 7:30 pm April 12; 2:30 pm April 13; 7:30 pm on April 18; 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm on April 19 and 2:30 pm closing performance on April 20.
