Voters in Friendswood headed to the polls on Saturday to decide key local races and bond propositions, resulting in the election of Michael Ross to City Council Position 6 and the approval of two major Galveston County bond measures.
In the contested City Council Position 6 race, Michael Ross defeated opponent Tom Hinckley with 1,276 votes to 1,008, securing his place on the council. Robert Griffon was unopposed in his re-election bid for Position 4.
In countywide voting, Proposition A — a $75 million bond package for the construction, maintenance, and operation of county and city roads — passed with 55% of the vote. Proposition C, a $36 million proposal for flooding and drainage improvements across Galveston County, also passed with 58% support.
However, Proposition B, a $75 million bond proposal for new county facilities, including a $55 million juvenile detention center, failed to pass, receiving support from only 46% of voters.
