Foundation raises $529K for AISD

Date:

The Alvin ISD Education Foundation contributed an annual total of $529,599 to the school district.

The nonprofit Board members made a check presentation with school board members at their May 13 meeting.

“This year we took some bold steps beginning with a brand-new theme for our gala,”

Executive Director Brandy Groth said. “Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we were able to raise more money than we ever had at our annual gala.”

The foundation board spearheaded recovery efforts after Walt Disney Elementary sustained heavy tornado damage.

The foundation’s largest fundraiser, the Turtle Race, was relocated this year.

“We wanted to go to a more centralized location,” Groth said. “With the shift we welcomed more of our Alvin ISD families, especially those on the west side.”
