The Sharks hosted the 1-5 Mavericks at Freedom Field on Friday, October 11. In a seemingly interminable first quarter, the Mavericks did everything possible to spoil Shadow Creek’s homecoming, including an on-sides kickoff they recovered. Multiple defensive plays by both teams held the game to a 77 tie through most of the first quarter. Jacier Pace kicked off the scoring for the Sharks with a 30-yard rushing touchdown. Pace later scored on a 52-yard pass from Tavis Coleman. Jaylen Addai tied Pace in scoring for the Sharks with two receiving touchdowns from Coleman. Aden Starling, Dion Johnson, and Maddox Pitre each contributed a touchdown for Shadow Creek, while Nicholas Saenz was 7/7 in PATs and Samel Delgado nailed a 46 yard field goal for the Sharks.
Pace led all rushers with 98 yards and also topped the receiving yards at 70. Quarterback Tavis Colemen was 15/22 for 279 yards, 6 touchdowns, and a 112.7 QB rating. Defensively, Carter Stewart and Tommy Baker led the Sharks with 2 solo tackles each.
Shadow Creek, now 5-2 (4-1 in District Play), has a bye week then travels to The Rig to take on the 7-0 Oilers in a matchup that could give the Oilers the outright district championship with a Pearland win.
