Final design of a new phase of Pearland’s largest park is set to begin in summer 2026, with construction expected to begin in late 2027.
Preliminary plans call for an adjacent detention pond to be incorporated as an amenity at the park, along with landscaping, parking, trails and sidewalk connections and improvements. Requests have also included permanent pickleball courts.
Phase II is expected to include an all-abilities expansion of the playground and construction of an inclusive splash pad.
Part of the planned Phase 2, the work will be funded from two sources: $16.3 million in bond sales approved by voters, and funds raised by the Forever Parks Foundation.
The foundation is currently fundraising and has secured approximately $1.4 million with an additional $500,000 in pledges, city staff said during an Oct. 27 update to council members.
