The Pearland Prancers Drill Team achieved a monumental first for Pearland Independent School District recently, capturing the overall championship title at the Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) West Houston Drill Team Assessment held at Legacy Stadium in Katy.

The prestigious assessment brought together 39 6A high school drill teams from across the region. After preliminary evaluations, the field was narrowed to the top ten teams who advanced to the final round. The Pearland Prancers delivered a powerful, clean, and captivating performance that earned them First Place overall, securing the contest victory.

“I am beyond proud of this team and showing everyone what it means to be a Pearland Prancer,” Prancer Director Macy Lopez said, commenting on the team’s success. “The Prancers showed incredible dedication and competitive spirit. Not only did they win, but this marks the first time PHS competed in and won the TDEA Team Assessment. It’s an incredible testament to their hard work and the quality of our dance program.”

The TDEA Assessment is recognized as a premier evaluation event for drill teams, focusing on execution, technique, and overall performance artistry. The Prancers’ historic win firmly establishes their place among the elite dance teams in the state.
