The Pearland Waterways Cleanup event began in 2018 as a way to focus cleanup efforts on the creeks throughout Pearland. When it comes to litter, waterways are typically where litter can cause the biggest problems.

Any excess water on Pearland streets collects litter as it flows down to storm drains and continues on to area creeks. Also, any trash that has made its way to waterways in areas to the north will eventually flow to Pearland. These two issues combined create huge amounts of litter in the waterways.

Cleanup events, like the spring Pearland Waterways Cleanup and the quarterly Adopt-A-Spot cleanups, can help make Pearland a cleaner and greener space. This not only benefits residents and local wildlife, but all of the waterways the creeks eventually flow into.
