A very busy week awaits both the Friendswood baseball and softball teams as the penultimate week of February begins. Here’s a look at the Friendswood High School sports schedule for the upcoming week.

Baseball

The state-ranked Mustangs began their 2024 regular season at home against Brenham on Monday before heading to the loaded Pearland First Pitch Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
Coach Cory Benavides’ squad begins the tourney with a 3:00 pm meeting at Shadow Creek on Thursday before a Friday twin-bill that will see them at Alvin at 10:00 am and a 12:30 pm matchup against Dickinson that will also be at Alvin High School.
Friendswood closes the tourney at Pearland on Saturday with a 12:30 pm date against Clear Falls and a 3:00 pm contest against Baytown Sterling.

Boys Basketball

Friendswood closed the regular season with five straight wins and earned a share of the District 18-5A title with Ball High.
The Mustangs (23-10 overall, 10-2 in district) face Nederland (19-11, 9-5 in District 17-5A) in the Region III bi-district round tonight at 7:00 pm at Baytown College.

Soccer

The boys and girls have just one match this week. The boys host Angleton at 7:45 pm tonight while the girls head south to face the Wildcats at 7:30 pm.

Softball

Like the baseball team, the Mustangs will be tournament-bound as they compete in the Clear Creek ISD Tournament, which begins on Thursday.
Coach Jarrod Hunter’s team begins with a doubleheader on Thursday with Lamar Consolidated (2:30 pm) and Clear Lake (6:30 pm) before Friday’s docket has them facing Houston Lamar (2:30 pm) and rival Clear Brook (6:30 pm).
Friendswood closes out against Clear Falls on Saturday beginning at 2:30 pm.

Tennis

The Mustangs will be among the teams competing at the CCISD Holtman Foster Tournament, which will be held at Clear Falls High School on Friday.

Track & Field

Both boys’ and girls’ teams will be at Pasadena High School for the MUD Relays beginning at 9:30 am on Thursday.
