The new zoning will allow daycare

Date:

A zone change granted by the city on February 26 paved the way for a daycare for children to operate at 3801 Liberty Drive.

“We’re not making any major changes except for complete improvement,” applicant Mona Malone told the city council at that meeting. “The upstairs has not been occupied for a very long time and is in quite a state of disrepair.”

Just over six acres were rezoned from single-family zoning to office professional, the least intense use that would allow daycare to operate with a conditional use permit.
The site was annexed in 1960 and developed as a school in 1977.

The city will consider granting a conditional use permit at a future meeting.
