Pearland Independent School District invites adults and children of all ages to attend Big Art Day, a FREE event for the entire family in celebration of Youth Art Month. Hosted by Pearland ISD’s Fine Arts department, the event is set to happen on Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Pearland Town Center Pavilion located at 11200 Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77584.
In alignment with an initiative by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA), Pearland ISD Big Art Day’s goal is to raise awareness about art and theatre as creative forces in our schools and community.
“By participating in art education, students have the opportunity to learn, grow and develop critical thinking, problem solving, creativity and communication, among other extremely valuable skills,” Pearland ISD Fine Arts Coordinator Victor Raygoza said. “This is our third year to host Pearland ISD’s Big Art Day, and we look forward to celebrating the culmination of Youth Art Month with an art event for the entire family. We have several activities planned with one goal: to have our community come together to enjoy and celebrate art.”
The main attraction of Pearland ISD’s Big Art Day will be led by more than 55 high school and junior high students through live chalk art. Embracing the space theme, the chalk art pieces will bring to life creative artwork fully executed by the students.
Activities/attractions at Pearland ISD’s Big Art Day will also include:
• Make and Takes: with the assistance of Pearland ISD art teachers, children of all ages will be able to participate in several art projects utilizing different art supplies;
• Theatre and dance performances by PHS’s Pearland Theatre and DHS’s Ovation Theatre;
• Face painting;
• Door prizes;
• Food trucks and more!
While attending Pearland ISD’s Big Art Day, guests will also have an opportunity to enjoy the artwork of students of all grade levels, displayed at several stores across Pearland Town Center.
