The Pearland ISD school board will hold a public hearing on Tuesday on the district’s annual performance report, which includes STAAR results, attendance, dropout, and graduation rates.
The state typically issues an A through F rating for districts, a system first implemented in 2017 — but it has not yet done so for 2023.
“The release of these reports is pending judicial ruling and decision from the 88th Legislature during a special called session,” the TEA website states.
Pearland ISD earned an “A” for the prior year in 2022. The letter grades are based on STAAR results, academic growth, and graduation rates, in addition to college and career readiness.
Tuesday’s public hearing and presentation will be part of the board’s regular 5 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, March 19, at the Virgil Gant Education Support Center, 1928 North Main St. A period for public comment is provided, but speakers must complete a form before Monday at pearlandisd.org/publiccomment.
Also, on Tuesday, a closed session is planned for the board to consult with its attorney and discuss personnel and disciplinary actions or complaints against students or staff.
