Larry Taylor Joins MoakCasey Team

Date:

Esteemed public school consulting firm MoakCasey continues to grow by adding education champion and former Texas State Senate Education Chair Larry Taylor to the team as Vice President.

Former Senator Taylor will focus on policy issues that benefit the education community, including increased public education funding and teacher raises.

Taylor has been a dedicated public servant and a steadfast advocate for Texas students and teachers for two decades. He served in the Texas Senate for five legislative sessions, including four as Chairman of the Senate Education Committee.

Taylor’s extensive experience positions him to make a significant impact at MoakCasey, where the firm provides expert counsel to school district leaders and policymakers on school finance, strategic planning, economic development, advocacy, and accountability.

“I am thrilled to join the highly respected team at MoakCasey,” said Taylor. “With two decades of advocating for public education in the Texas legislature, I am eager to continue championing the needs of students and teachers at MoakCasey.”

Before his election to the Texas Senate in 2012, Taylor served five terms in the Texas House of Representatives. He was integral to the 2019 passage of House Bill 3, the $11.6 billion school finance overhaul that boosted per-student funding and reduced property taxes.

“Larry and I worked together for nearly 20 years both in and outside the Texas legislature,” said MoakCasey COO and former Texas State Representative Dan Huberty.

“Together, we achieved major legislative accomplishments including reforming the school finance system in Texas. I am thrilled that he is joining the team, and I look forward to continuing our careers together.”

A Baylor University graduate, Taylor was raised in Friendswood, Texas.
