On Friday, April 25, 2025, the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) concluded its annual Adopt-A-Grant Campaign with a spirited SurPrize Patrol that distributed an astonishing  $449,146.04 in grant funding to educators across all Friendswood ISD (FISD) campuses.

“SurPrize Patrol Day is a celebration for so many! It is primarily a celebration of our passionate educators who wrote and were awarded grants to benefit their students and campuses. But it is also a celebration for those who work behind the scenes to get grants into the hands of those teachers and students: our on-campus Grant Champions who support grant writers along the way, our generous donors who many times select what they purchase based on personal passions or relationships with campuses and/or teachers, the FISD admin office who quickly process grants, and our board of 33 hard-working community members who work for 12 months to make big things happen for our district. We are so proud of the work of our entire FEF Community!” said FEF President Shanna Kirkpatrick.

The excitement was palpable as over 30 Foundation board members and Adopt-A-Grant donors boarded the SurPrize Patrol bus, making energetic stops at each campus. The event was led by the exciting Friendswood High School drumline and greeted with cheers and tears from surprised educators. This beloved pep rally-style tradition honors innovative teaching ideas by delivering grant awards directly to the classrooms.

“The Adopt-A-Grant campaign is all about fostering innovative and engaging learning opportunities within FISD and giving the community a seat at the table to help bring them to life,” said FEF Director Ashley Adair.

From innovative books to dynamic math manipulatives, these funded grants highlight the creativity and passion of FISD teachers and staff, all rooted in the belief that every student deserves an engaging and enriching learning experience!

The FISD Education Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to the many Grant Writers, Grant Champions, and Campus and District Purchasers and Approvers who make the Adopt-A-Grant campaign a success.
