Meet your match, visit kissing booth at pet event

With Valentine’s Day approaching, the community is invited to Meet Your Match event at the Friendswood Animal Control Shelter on Saturday, February 8 from 10 am to 3 pm.  What a perfect way to celebrate a special day with a special new pet selected to be perfect for the new owner(s).

To help select the perfect match, potential adopters will complete a dating profile form and will be introduced to pets who work well with the answers on the profile.

The dating profile covers such areas as the type of pet one is seeking such as dog or cat; traits the owner is wanting in the pet, questions about the owner such as how much time they are home, how active they are and how much time in training they will want to use.

The profile also finds out if other pets are in the household and what they are in age, type, gender and personality and also asks if any children are at home and if yes, their ages.

All this information makes it easier to find a pet that would fit into the atmosphere and the personality of the owner and his/her family. FAC volunteer Cassidy Matlock created the clever, informational form for the event.

“Meet your match events are held at various animal shelters and with Valentine’s Day, we thought it was a perfect time to match new owners with new pets,” Castro said.

Refreshments will be served and adopters will have the chance to get a Valentine’s photo taken with their new true love before they walk off into the sunset together, according to shelter liaison Amy Castro.

A special kissing booth will be set up with adorable puppy, Pandita. Visitors can kiss and cuddle this sweety pie for a donation to Starlight Outreach and Rescue, an 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue that supports Friendswood Animal Control.

Pandita will also be available for adoption at the event.

The Animal Control Shelter is at 3000 W. Parkwood in Friendswood.

For more information, go to the Friendswood Animal Control Facebook page or call them at (281) 996-3390.

Pets waiting to be adopted are hoping for a huge crowd to attend.
