Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the Fall 2020 Reopening Plan unanimously as presented at the School Board meeting July 20, 2020. Also approved were the PK-5th Grades Virtual Learning Option Guidelines and the Secondary Blended Instructional Guidelines.
The Fall Reopening Plan outlines instructional options, campus logistics, safety protocols, a healthy environment, transportation, district and campus contacts for COVID, and Human Resources.
The reopening plan was created with feedback from the community,staff, District Leadership Team, the Fall 2020 Reopening Committee, the Board of Trustees and the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
The District will continue to pursue the beliefs, call to action and goals developed in the District Strategic Plan while providing a safe environment for students and staff, according to the document.
The plan also stated that should the public health situation change, or if requirements or mandates change, FISD may find it necessary to adjust areas in one or more sections. Changes will be noted on the district website under Reopening 2020 on the homepage.
Students in FISD will attend the 2020 – 2021 school year in one of two models of instruction: Virtual Model of Instruction and In-School Model of Instruction.
In the Virtual Model, Students will be required to commit to remain in the virtual model of instruction until the end of the nine weeks or the end of the next grading period if after the first nine weeks.
The start date to enroll began July 21, 2020 for virtual learning and will end August 5, 2020.
