Pearland ISD releases plan to safely reopen schools

Date:

Pearland Independent School District has released its Plan to Proceed for the return to school in Fall 2020-21. The plan outlines the district’s pledges: the commitment to health and safety, a dedication to providing high quality instruction and the academic, social and emotional support of students and staff.

Two instructional options will be available for parents and students: on-campus instruction or remote learning.

On-campus instruction will consist of full-day, face-to-face instruction for all courses. Remote instruction will offer online instruction through a remote synchronous and/or remote asynchronous format.

The Plan to Proceed was formulated with the input of district and campus leaders, teachers, parents, community members, as well as feedback from both parent and employee surveys.

“While there remains uncertainty about the trajectory of the pandemic and any resulting directives from state and regional officials, the district must now make commitments and non- negotiable safeguards geared toward protecting our students and staff and promoting excellent instruction under unprecedented circumstances,” Dr. John Kelly, Pearland ISD Superintendent, said.

The district’s pledges will remain at the forefront of any updates to Pearland ISD’s Plan to Proceed.

In preparation for the return to school, Pearland ISD will continue to follow guidance from local, state and federal health authorities, as well as the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Pearland ISD’s Plan to Proceed can be found at:www.pearlandisd.org/plantoproceed.

The site will be updated if any changes are made due to additional guideline information from TEA.
