Friendswood ISD Education Foundation Honors Retiring Directors

Date:

The Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) honored three retiring directors during its Board Meeting on May 5. The outgoing board members are Charlotte Hall, Kim Montz and Leslie Yarbrough.

“It is difficult to put into words what these three ladies have contributed to the growth of the Education Foundation,” FEF Nominating Committee Chair Allan Rasmussen said.

Between the three, the group has dedicated 28 years of service to the Foundation’s Board. Having served 13 years, Montz will be recognized as a Director Emeritus, maintaining all rights and privileges of an active director without holding a voting position.

Montz was instrumental in building FEF’s Adopt-A-Grant program, serving as the Grant Committee chair for a number of years. She shared some of her favorite grants over the years were a Rapology grant for a junior high social studies class and the medical grants at the high school.

“While I served on a number of committees during my time with FEF, grants were always the most important to me because they are one of the greatest ways we live out our mission as a Foundation,” Montz said.

Hall and Yarbrough shared some of their favorite memories serving on FEF’s Gala Committee.

“Our first gala paddle raise in 2020 was definitely one of my favorite moments,” Yarbrough said. “We were anxious to try something new but were blown away at the generous response from our guests. The result was truly moving and more than we could have ever imagined.”

The three leave big shoes to fill and are looking forward to continuing to support the Foundation in new ways.

“I have loved seeing how things have evolved over time,” Hall said. “We are so excited to see all that lies ahead for the Foundation.”

Rasmussen commented the three retiring directors share an energy and passion for education and kids that has been infectious to the rest of the Board.

“Charlotte, Kim and Leslie have been a huge blessing to the Foundation,” Rasmussen said. “They will be greatly missed but we look forward to partnering with them in new ways in the future.”
