Cooling stations open in county for temps 100-plus

Cooling centers or stations have opened in Brazoria County for its residents when temperatures reach 100 degrees or higher and will remain open as cooling stations through September 30, 2022.

Cooling centers are places where one can cool down during hot weather. Cooling centers include indoor air-conditioned facilities such as libraries, community and senior centers, schools, and malls.

In the county, all Brazoria County Libraries, the Brazoria County Dream Center and the Salvation Army are all cooling stations.

In the Pearland area, that would include Tom Reid Branch Library, West Pearland Branch Library, Manvel Branch and Alvin Branch Libraries. All have in-person cooling station hours as Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.

In Pearland, Tom Reid Library is located at 3522 Liberty Drive.  Call prior to a cooling visit at 713-436-0995.

In West Pearland, the West Pearland Branch Library is located at 11801 Shadow Creek Parkway with phone 713-436-0995.

In Manvel, the library is located at 205148 Hwy 6 with phone 281-489-7596.

The Alvin Library is located at 105 South Gordon with phone 281-388-4300.
