PCB announces new director/conductor

Pearland Community Band has a new director, Jesse Oliva.

Oliva is a native Houstonian and graduated from Sam Houston State University. He plays trumpet and was a member of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corp before becoming a band director at the Middle and High School levels.

He joined the Pearland Community Band in 2021 and was tapped to be the Assistant Conductor. He led the band through its anniversary performance during the Concert band Festival held in May at the Pearland Town Center.

He has taken over the role of Conductor for PCB.

The PCB is a group of music loving individuals with a wide variety of musical skills. The band has been performing int eh Friendswood, Pearland, South Belt and Houston area since 1996.

Members range from high school ages to 80-plus. They meet on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 pm at the Sageglen Community Association building at 11610 Sageyork Dr.

Currently, they are in need of the following instruments: flutes, clarinets, French horns and a tuba.

After their summer break, they will resume rehearsals on August 23, 2022.

The jazz band section is continuing to rehearse from 7 to 8:30 pm. The jazz band will change their rehearsal times to 6-6:45 pm once the concert band returns.
