Three Town Hall meetings have been planned to gather community input on the development of the conceptual plan for the Stevenson Park parking lot.
The three meetings have been scheduled for September 20, October 25, and November 29 at the Friendswood Library from 6 to 7 pm.
Consultants from Halff Associates will be at the public meetings with displays of serial photographs and will conduct a presentation about potential opportunities for the parking lot area
All meetings are open to the public.
The first and second meetings will provide site information and gather input as well. The meeting’s objectives include preparation and presentation of regional context, site inventory, site analysis, and suggested park programming via exhibits and PowerPoint.
The third meeting on November 29 will have conceptual plans to present. This will include up to three park site plans based on public engagement and documentation of public comments.
Halff Associates were hired to develop conceptual plans for the parking lot. Improvements could include crosswalk paving, an outdoor stage area, landscaping, benches and more. City Council approved the funding of $13,500 to hire the company with funding through the Friendswood Downtown Economic Development Corp. (FDEDC).
The parking lot is from former Fire Station 1. It has an uneven surface area that had been part of the station’s foundation.
The meetings at the library will enable the consultants to share their conceptual ideas while gathering input from the community.
For those who cannot attend the meetings, a survey online has been placed to gather input. Go to friendswood.com/survey to provide comments and opinion.
The library is located at 416 S. Friendswood Dr. in Friendswood. The parking lot is located adjacent to City Hall within Stevenson Park. The lot is currently used for parking as well as Farmers Market booths.
