2022-2023 FISD Education Foundation Adopt-A-Grant Campaign Is Live

Date:

The Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) kicked off its annual Adopt-a-Grant Campaign on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29. Grants are written by teachers, inspired by students and brought to life with the support of the community.

Grants fund resources that support and enhance authentic learning like robotics, health science, math manipulatives, STEM and literacy materials, makerspace tools, drones, culinary and fine arts items, 3D printers, special education resources, technology, flexible seating and more.

Since its inception in 1999, the Foundation has funded over $1.8 million in grants for FISD. FEF posts all grants online to provide an opportunity for parents, businesses and community members to purchase and invest in a specific classroom, campus or program in FISD.

“The ‘online shopping’ framework of FEF’s Adopt-A-Grant campaign is truly one-of-a-kind,” FEF Director Ashley Adair said. “I love that it provides a very tangible way for our donors to know exactly where their money is going, right down to the very penny.”

New this year will be a “treasure chest” feature where supporters can donate towards grants at the campus of their choice.

“The treasure chest is a great option if your child’s teacher did not submit a grant or if you simply want to make a dedicated gift towards grants at a particular campus your child or grandchild attends,” Adair said.

Donations to the campus grant treasure chests can be made starting at $5, and grant prices range from $50 to $5,000. Every dollar will be put to work in FISD classrooms and help move FEF’s mission forward.

“FISD teachers truly dreamed big this grant season as the Foundation received over 850 grant submissions that will provide even more authentic, real-world learning experiences for our students,” Adair said.

FEF is calling on the Friendswood community to partner in bringing those grants to life.

Grants will remain on sale online until March 10, 2023. After the campaign closes, the Foundation will evaluate remaining grants and use the funds it has raised at its annual events to fund as many as possible.

Support the annual Adopt-A-Grant Campaign by visiting fef.myfisd.com/grants and clicking the yellow button. Browse grants by campus or type a teacher’s last name in the search bar to view grants that will touch their classroom.

Grants make for a great gift for teachers and double as a year-end tax-deductible donation. Please contact FEF Executive Director Ashley Adair at AAdair@fisdk12.net or 281.996.6655 with any questions.
