The City of Friendswood Parks & Recreation hosted the 2023 Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial (located next to City Hall).
Keynote speaker was Marine Corps veteran Sergeant Jay Shaw. Shaw enlisted in 1997 and rose to the rank of Sergeant before he was wounded in action in Fallujah in 2004. Additional ceremony participants included the Friendswood First Baptist Church choir, the Friendswood Police Department Honor Guard, and Rob Wise performing on the bagpipes.
At the end of the ceremony a group photo was taken of all the military veterans and active duty personnel in attendance.
