Bad news for students: Summer break is almost over.
Students in Pearland ISD report to classes August 15, and Alvin ISD students return August 10.
Some good news for parents: Texas’ annual sales tax holiday weekend begins Friday, August 11 and runs through midnight Monday morning. Sales tax will not be charged for clothing, school supplies, backpacks and other school-related items.
Meet the Teacher nights
In Alvin ISD, Meet the Teacher Night is Aug. 7 for elementary and junior high campuses. Fish camp or transition day for Shadow Creek High School will be the day before school begins on Aug. 9.
Pearland ISD holds Meet the Teacher nights after classes resume: Aug. 24 for elementary schools, Aug. 28 for junior high campuses and Aug. 31 for middle schools. All times are 6:30 to 8 p.m.
New and returning enrollments
For families new to the school district, an enrollment support night is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, at the Virgil Gant Education Support Center, 1928 North Main St.
For returning students in both Pearland and Alvin ISDs, online verification opened this week and can be completed through Skyward Family Access.
Pearland ISD families needing help with online verification can visit their student’s school in person during open hours or the Virgil Gant Education Support Center between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, including during enrollment support night.
New students and parents enrolling in Alvin ISD are encouraged to visit the district’s website at alvinisd.net and open a Skyward account as well as access the district’s campus finder to contact their zoned campus, where they can set up an appointment to complete enrollment.
