Burglary
July 15 (6:53 a.m.) A vehicle burglary was reported in the 700 block of Stoneledge Drive. When the owner was leaving for work, he noticed that his driver’s side door was open, and his handgun was gone. The burglary occurred sometime between 9:45 a.m. on July 14th and 6:30 a.m. July 15th.
Theft
July 11 (3:53 p.m.) A theft of a catalytic converter was reported in the 16900 block of Bougainvilla Lane. Two black males arrived in a small passenger car at approximately 5:30 a.m. One male was a look-out, while the other went under the victim’s Toyota Tacoma and stole the catalytic converter.
July 14 (3:40 p.m.) A disabled veteran in the 5100 block of Coventry Court reported a theft by a construction company. The victim hired Alpha Remodeling Pros in January 2022. The contractor failed to obtain permits and has left the victim with a home remodel that is unfinished. The contractor is accused of taking $30,000 and not completing work.
July 16 (9:21 a.m.) A Mercedes Benz was stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of Cowards Creek Drive. The keys were left inside the vehicle. The stolen vehicle was found in the 600 block of Magnolia Bend Street in League City. The vehicle was abandoned, running and several of the doors were left open. A homeowner in the area told police that she saw two white males, a black male, and a white female running from the vehicle. A 16-year-old Friendswood teen was charged with Evading on Foot and was captured in the 500 block of Magnolia Bend. Another 16-year-old League City teen was charged with Evading on Foot and was captured near the League City water tower. A third suspect, a 16-year-old League City teen, who was involved in an earlier evading arrest in a motor vehicle pursuit, was captured by League City police on Candlewood Drive in League City. He was also charged with Evading on Foot. Charges for theft of the vehicle were declined by a Galveston County Assistant District Attorney. One teen was turned over to his father. The other two teens were released to the custody of League City police for additional charges.
Fraud
July 11 (11:26 a.m.) A Friendswood man received a text message from his bank asking about the legitimacy of two cashed checks. The checks were fraudulent. Then, he was contacted by phone from an automated voice asking for account information. He hung up and contacted his business partner. Then, he realized that his office phone number was forwarded to another number without his permission.
July 11 (5:31 p.m.) A Friendswood man reported identity theft. He discovered that someone opened a credit cad using his personal identifying information.
July 12 (9:03 a.m.) A Friendswood man reported identity theft. He was looking at his credit report and discovered a Comcast account that was sent to collections. The service was for an address on El Camino Village Drive, a location that the victim has never resided.
July 13 (4:29 p.m.) A Friendswood businessman contacted police when he discovered that a check he mailed was intercepted, forged, and cashed.
July 14 (9:55 a.m.) A Friendswood woman attempted to purchase a $1000 chicken coop on Facebook Marketplace. The seller requested $300 through Venmo to hold the chicken coop. Then, they requested more money before it was delivered. The victim became suspicious because of the different names that were associated with the money transfers and requested delivery before payment. “Chicken Coops” is now refusing to deliver her chicken coop.
July 15 (3:00 p.m.) A Friendswood resident was contacted by a person who claimed to be a Pasadena police sergeant. He told the victim that she had two active warrants for not appearing for jury duty. Despite this being a common scam, the 37-year-old victim withdrew the funds and transferred them to the scammer.
Trespass
July 12 (9:03 a.m.) A Friendswood woman reported suspicious activity that occurred in the 600 block of Mary Ann Drive. When she woke up, she noticed a Ring camera event and observed that at 1:48 a.m., two males were on her property. One black male opened the screen door at her front door, saw her Ring camera, and fled on foot. Nothing appears to be missing and the man’s intent is unknown.
July 12 (10:23 a.m.) A resident in the 3300 block of King George Lane reported suspicious activity seen on his Ring camera. He received an alert about a recorded video from 12:34 a.m. When he reviewed the video, he was shocked to see an unknown male masturbating and ejaculating in front of his camera. The suspect is a heavy-set male with short dark hair, wearing shorts, a white t-shirt, black socks, and Crocs.
Traffic
July 10 (11:16 a.m.) A vehicle struck the Wok D’Lite building at 202 S. Friendswood Drive sometime overnight. Damage was sustained to roofing materials at the corner of the business.
July 16 (1:27 a.m.) A 16-year-old League City teen was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention in a vehicle. An officer attempted to make a traffic stop for speeding in the 3000 block of FM 528. The registered owner of the white Ford Mustang was contacted and advised that her son stole the vehicle after the vehicle was taken out of his possession. The teen was identified, and criminal charges are pending.
Found Property
July 14 (10:23 a.m.) A cell phone was turned into police. It was found in the flower bed near the east entrance to the Eagle Lakes neighborhood.
