Heritage Gardeners will host their first meeting of the club’s new year Thursday, September 7, 2023 at their clubhouse at 112 W. Spreading Oaks.
The speaker for the meeting will be Brazoria County Master Gardener Cynthia Finney who will be providing information on succulents. Finney will instruct everyone on how to grow, care for, and propagate the popular varieties.
Succulents are any plant with thick fleshy tissues adapted to water storage in arid climates or soil conditions. Succulents are found in over 60 plant families. They are favorites in containers, dish gardens and craft/garden projects.
Finney serves are Second Vice President over the BCMG Demonstration Gardens in Angleton and also coordinates the organization’s tree sale.
Programs at the Heritage Gardener meetings are free and open to those interested in attending. Members and guests are asked to arrive at 9:30 am for refreshments and a meet and greet time. The speaker will begin at approximately 10 am.
Heritage Gardeners members are also beginning to work on their upcoming Christmas Home Tour, Holiday Market, raffles, and Santa’s Bakery which will all take place Saturday and Sunday, November 18 and 19, 2023 at the clubhouse location as well as adjacent properties.
Beautifully decorated private homes will be on the tour and local businesses will be selling tickets soon.
The Holiday Market will host a variety of vendors to help all get their holiday shopping completed at the event. The club is seeking additional vendors and anyone interested can contact Paula Oddo at paulaoddo@gmail.com for more information.
