PISD names new deputy superintendent

Pearland ISD Trustees on Sept. 19 voted unanimously to name longtime administrator Kelly Holt as deputy superintendent.

“I have been blessed to work in Pearland for the last 17 years,” Holt said. “I have had the most amazing leaders and mentors who have taken time to invest in me over these 17 years and I just want to say thank you.”

Holt began her career are a teacher at Deer Park High School and taught 15 years before coming to Pearland, where she has served as assistant principal at Pearland High, associate principal at Dawson High. She was named executive director of high schools in 2021.
“I look forward to the challenges we have ahead of us,” she told the board, “and look forward to building Pearland proud.”

The board also voted to create eight new positions in areas such as food service, supporting increasing kindergarten enrollment at Challenger Elementary and one position in the transportation department to support bus ridership.

“We have a large number of students in elected ridership, and we need more routes and more bus drivers to ensure those students get to school,” Superintendent Larry Berger said.
