The Clear Creek Education Foundation’s Spring Prize Patrol traveled across the district surprising teachers with grants, funding innovative programs
The 2023 Clear Creek Education Foundation SurPrize Patrol was in full gear the morning of October 10th, surprising campuses across Clear Creek ISD, awarding $123,518.92 in special innovative grants.
The purpose of the grant program is to fund innovative projects that impact student learning. “Hats off to our teachers this year who took the extra time to submit some truly innovative programs for our students. We are always amazed with the groundbreaking ideas and programs that our teachers come up with to continue making our students successful,” stated Executive Director Deborah Laine.
A Special Innovative Grant (SIG) is a large grant amount of up to $50,000 designed to encourage and support innovative teaching and learning on a large scale. Teachers are given the opportunity to apply for SIGs each summer.
Programs funded included: Jet Lathe machine/equipment for Clear Creek High School; moving minds with interactive floors for Campbell Elementary; a STEM lab for Weber Elementary; Esports in CCISD for Clear Springs, Clear Brook and Clear Lake High Schools; STEM in the classroom for Clear Falls HS; a sensory room at Bay Elementary and a $50,000 grant to have a CCISD Mariachi Program.
Grant funding is made possible by the hard work of the CCEF Board of directors, Quarter Century Partners and community partners across Clear Creek ISD. “The Visual and Performing Arts department is extremely grateful for the CCEF and its amazing impact in our schools. The introduction of the new mariachi program was made possible due to the support of a $50,000 grant received from the Clear Creek Educational Foundation. This is a wonderful opportunity to enrich our students’ cultural experiences through the music and history of the mariachi genre. In addition, this is a great way to celebrate diversity and expand educational offerings in Clear Creek ISD, said Greg Goodman, Director of Visual Performing Arts.
Since its founding in 1992, CCEF has been a nonprofit dedicated to building public education in Clear Creek ISD through grants and programs that empower every student to achieve academic and personal success. CCEF has contributed over $5.3 million to CCISD for innovative programs in the classroom.
