Pearland’s Clear Creek Trail will soon connect with the Shadow Creek Ranch subdivision trail system.

The City Council, on Monday, unanimously approved a $1.83 million contract for construction of Shadow Creek Trail Project Phase 2. The new trail segment will travel under Shadow Creek Parkway, along a relief ditch, and over a pedestrian bridge.

“It will be a 10-foot wide, concrete trail and includes the pedestrian bridge as well,” City Manager Trent Epperson said.

Trail projects will be reimbursed by the area’s Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 2, which encompasses Shadow Creek Ranch.

The contract was awarded to Tandem Services LLC, and construction is expected to take about 13 months.

City leaders in 2007 adopted a Trail Master Plan that laid out a phased system of interconnecting trails to provide off-street transportation alternatives for cyclists and pedestrians.
