The Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau (PCVB) will partner with Triple Crown Sports for the Ronald McDonald City of Lights Division fastpitch tournament slated for October 18 through 20 this year.
The tournament will take place across two Pearland parks, Centennial Park and The Sports Complex at Shadow Creek Ranch, and is a stay-to-play event requiring teams traveling from more than 80 miles to lodge with Pearland hotel partners.
“We are thrilled Pearland will be the host city for such a prestigious sports tournament,” said Tracy Rohrbacher, Executive Director of the PCVB. “This new partnership with Triple Crown Sports allows us to welcome the next level of play in girls fastpitch softball to the city.”
The 2024 event marks the 31st year of the Ronald McDonald tournament, which has grown into one of the country’s largest college-recruited girls’ fastpitch tournaments. It brings players and coaches together to earn scholarships.
The City of Lights division of the tournament in Pearland is a special product offered by Triple Crown Sports specifically for teams that need more assistance with recruiting, guaranteeing exposure for players who might not be seen as often as others.
Each year, Triple Crown Sports donates $100 per team participating in the Ronald McDonald House of Houston, equaling over $800,000 since the tournament’s inception.
“Pearland is a prime location for the City of Lights division because of their great facilities and their amazing CVB,” said Ashleigh Sidwell, Fastpitch Event Director. “Moving the division to Pearland provides more fields, which ultimately allows us to accept more teams and provide a better experience for those teams.”
The PCVB is delighted to welcome teams from across the country and to help provide them with a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Pearland.
