Adopt-A-Beach planned for April 20

An Adopt-A-Beach Spring Cleanup is planned for April 20 at 23 locations, according to the Texas Land Commissioner’s office.

Sites in Brazoria County include Quintana Beach, 330 5th St., and Surfside Beach, 101 Parkview Road, Surfside. Locations also include Sargent Beach in Matagorda County and Menard Park, 2222 28th St., in Galveston.

Signup is available at texasadoptabeach.org. Volunteers can also show up at the site on the cleanup day. Check-in is 8:30 a.m., and the cleanup begins at 9 a.m.

Closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of drinking water are recommended.

Volunteers are also encouraged to download the “Clean Swell” app to track efforts and contribute data to the Ocean Conservancy’s global ocean trash database.
