Early voting begins Monday

Early voting for the May 4 elections begins on Monday, April 22, at 11 locations in Brazoria County and continues through April 30.

Pearland area early voting locations include the Tom Reid Library, 3522 Liberty Drive, West Pearland Community Center, 2150 Countryplace Parkway, and the West Pearland Library, 11801 Shadow Creek Parkway. Voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22 to 27 and April 29-30.

Among decisions for Pearland voters are two bond propositions in Pearland ISD: $74.4 million in facility needs such as HVAC, plumbing, roofing, and parking; and $32.2 million in technology upgrades such as servers, storage, and networking.

A community meeting about the bond election is on Wednesday, April 24, at Pearland High School Bullard South Lecture Hall. More information about the bond proposals is also available at pearlandisd.org/bond.

Also on the Pearland ISD ballot, Air Force veteran Jenny Francis and Terrence Campbell, pastor and area director at CarePortal, are vying for position No. 6 in the only contested school board race.

In the City of Pearland, Clint Byrom and Veronica Kreuder-Longoria are vying for city council position No. 4, the seat held by retiring Councilman Adrian Hernandez. Byrom owns a development and home construction firm, and Kreuder-Longoria is chief of staff at tax consulting firm Alliantgroup.

Position No. 2 City Councilman Tony Carbone is unopposed.

In Alvin ISD, three candidates are vying for Position No. 3: retired educator Dixie Jones, financial planner Danielle Swiney, and real estate professional Rebecca Zavala.

Entrepreneur Travis Boldt is challenging Position No. 2 Trustee Cory Scott. Millard Norris, a supervisor at Ascend Performance Materials, is challenging Position No. 1 Trustee Albert Johnson, and project manager Cheratta Campbell Roberts is challenging Gabriel Garza for Position No. 7.
